SEASONS IN BLOOM
-
Seasons in Bloom translates the seasons into floral studio portraiture, with Summer, Spring, and Winter each embodied through a single composed image built around flowers, colour, and light rather than a literal landscape or calendar shot.
Rather than photographing flowers as flowers, each frame is built to carry the character of its season: the heat and saturation of Summer, the softness of Spring, the starkness of Winter. It’s a studio-based approach to a subject that’s usually shot outdoors, which is part of what makes the series distinct within Ryan’s broader still-life work.
Seasons in Bloom picked up recognition at the 2025 International Photography Awards, with ‘Seasons in Bloom – Summer’ winning its Fine Art / Still Life subcategory and ‘Seasons in Bloom – Winter’ receiving an Honourable Mention in the same category.
